Full marks!
These children scored full marks in our tables test. Well done Jack A, Megan, James, Lukas, Liam, Niamh T, Neve F, Lewis, Levi, Alex, Theo, Hayden, Harry, Jamie, Ellis, Abi, Jack B, Charlotte P, Emma, Ava, Isaac, Charlotte T, Jared, Millie and Seth.
More and more children have achieved full marks in their times tables test each week. A fantastic effort from everyone! Well done Year 3!
Dates for the diary!
Next half term will be a busy half term with some educational visits for Year 3.
Year 3 will be taking part in the Bible comes alive workshop on Monday 12th June. This will be at Silksworth Methodist Church. There is no charge for the workshop.
We will also visit Donnison School in Hendon on Monday 19th June. The children will be finding out about school life for Victorian children. We will leave school at 9.15am and return to school for lunch. A letter will be sent home soon with more details.
Our end of year trip is to Preston Park on Tuesday 4th July. The children will be visiting the museum and taking part in a Victorian workshop. We will leave school at 9.15am and return at 3pm. More information to follow.
We have so much to look forward to!
Celebrating Jared’s success!
Jared shared his amazing medal and trophy he achieved at a football competition last weekend. Well done Jared!!!
Sports for Schools
On Thursday 15th June we will be welcoming GB Pole Vaulter Sally Scott to school. Sally Scott is a British track and field athlete. She competed for England in the Pole Vault event at the 2014 Commonwealth Games where she won a bronze medal.
Sally will be leading a sponsored fitness circuit with all pupils, and will follow-up with a talk and question and answer session. The aim of the event is to inspire the pupils to take up sport generally, but just as importantly to encourage them to discover and then pursue their passion in life.
The children have taken home a sponsorship form in order to help raise money for the event. You can also sponsor your child by following the below link:

The money raised will be used to buy sports equipment for the school, while also supporting GB athletes (including Paralympic athletes).
Sponsorship forms and money are to be returned to the school office on or before Thursday 22nd June.
The children will also need their PE Kits on 15th June for the event.

Developing word processing skills
Today the children researched and typed information about child labour in Victorian England. The children recorded information about children working in the mines, being a chimney sweep or housemaid. Great work from everyone in Year 3!
Smiley awards
Congratulations to Theo who has achieved another Bronze award , Jamie who has achieved his silver award and Liam who has achieved his Gold award. Well done and keep up the hard work!
Healthy cooking with ‘Kreative Kitchen’
Year 3 had lots of fun cooking with ‘Kreative Kitchen’. We learned lots about healthy eating and made delicious black bean fajitas, a very refreshing smoothie and tasted some new foods including hummus.
Year 3 and Year 4 Class Mass
The Last Chapter
All are welcome to the Year 3 and Year 4 class mass on Thursday 25th May in St Leonard’s Church at 10am. The mass celebrates the feast day of St Bede the Venerable.
Parents, help your children research about St Bede before the mass and wow everyone with your knowledge.
More pizza making
Today Year 3 made their own pizzas. They will write instructions to make a pizza next week.
